As the NHL trade deadline closed in on the struggling Hawks, we dished out Ryan Hartman and a 5th rounder to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Victor Ejdsell and two picks (1st and 4th round) in the 2018 draft.
Though we’re now loaded for the 2018 draft, the longest bromance on the team has been broken up: Ryan Hartman and Vinnie Hinostroza.
The two wingers have known each other since they were little kids and even played on the same football team growing up.
After hearing the news that Hartman was being shipped to Nashville, Vinnie seemed pretty damn depressed and it kinda makes me feel like I have to shed a tear.
Hinostroza was quoted saying, “Hopefully he’s still here so I can give him a hug before he gets out of here, go get a bite or something. I don’t know.”
As if this season hasn’t been disappointing enough, it hurts to see two very likable players get broken up like this. After all, they’re all regular people and have close relationships with each other.
In Hartman’s first game with Nashville, he netted a game winner with less than a minute remaining.
Also traded the same day as Hartman, Tommy Wingels had a goal and a pretty sick assist in his first game with Boston. Just his second multipoint game of the season and the first since October.
It’s just been that kind of year, and I’m ready for this shit to be over with.
